The main consideration is ensuring filaments are compatible with each other at their respective printing temperatures and that you’re using appropriate materials for your printer type (PLA on open-frame printers, engineering filaments on enclosed printers). Drying your filament before multi-color prints is particularly important since moisture artifacts are more visible at color transition points.
